Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that World Biotech Forum-a NJ Non-profit Organization is organizing World Biotech Forum 2005: International Forum on Biotech Commercialization in Greater China/Asia Pacific, to be held at Bove Auditorium, Rutgers Business School-Newark on July 30, 2005.

In recent years, the Asia Pacific region, especially greater China, has experienced a tremendous growth rate in the field of biotechnology. Biotech has been seen to be a key driver in improving both the food supply and the quality of life for this large populace. Without question, there will be many opportunities to take advantage of this growth, particularly in the sectors of agriculture and healthcare. Although the prospects for growth are generally very positive, a number of issues need to be addressed before the Asia Pacific region can fully take advantage of this opportunity and reap the benefits that biotech has to offer. These include the safety of biotech products, clinical trials, health implications, IPR, regulation of GM products, infrastructure and facilities (developing biotech clusters), skilled manpower, entrepreneurship culture, and capital and investment availability.

Sponsored by a number of organizations including Rutgers Business School Entrepreneurship Center, SAPA and others, the International Forum on Biotech Commercialization in Greater China/Asia Pacific provides a platform to discuss and exchange ideas on some of these issues, specifically in the areas of bio-entrepreneurship, venture capital and IPR. Speakers from Asia have been invited.

As an industry expert, you are invited to participate in this unique event as a Sponsor, an Attendant or as a Speaker.

I look forward to hearing from you. For additional info, please e-mail cmtang@worldbioforum.org.

Sincerely yours,

C. Mark Tang
